eleven days and counting

It has been 14 days since Eric and I broke ties with our former lives.  I never knew two weeks could feel so long, in a good way.  With most of our preparations squared away for our trip, we spent the last week vacationing in Cape Cod.  Man, are we living the life.  Biking, kayaking, relaxing at the beach, and watching the sunset (on the bay side of the cape) is not a bad way to slow down and gain some appreciation for what we are setting out to do in 11 days (and 23 hours, but who’s counting?).

the beginning

A seed was planted. A deal was made. And in just a matter of weeks we have "retired" from our corporate lifestyles, moved out of our Boston apartment, and booked one way flights to a place 5,000 miles away from home. After a 30 minute conversation, a life changing handshake and a few nail-biting calls home, we set our plan in motion.

With the next few months mapped out, we are enjoying catching up with family and friends and our open calendars. Eric and I spent the other morning just sipping coffee and watching a caterpillar build it's own cocoon. An hour that would typically be spent preparing for weekly pipeline reviews and emailing executives about the importance of attending the next sales conference, was spent in awe of a completely natural occurance. While witnessing this transformation, we found certain parallels to our own situation. Not exactly the most productive hour of our lives, but definitely a memorable moment.

After months of planning we will be setting off on September 5th to start WWOOFing (worldwide opportunities on organic farms) in Hawaii. This blog is where we will document our experiences in the upcoming months for anyone who is curious. This is for sure a big adventure for both of us and we are so fortunate to have family and friends that support our decision to take this journey.
